Whenever JK left the mansion for business, the atmosphere shifted from oppressive to predatory. The two guards didn't wait for his permission anymore. They would corner her in the hallways or drag her into the laundry room, their eyes hungry.
"Don't even think about telling him," one whispered, his hand gripping her throat. "Because the moment you do, we'll tell JK that you've been badmouthing him. We'll tell him you hate him. You know he doesn't like it when you are ungrateful."
